Andy and I are enthralled by our veggie garden. It’s going crazy! Vegetables are magically appearing! Just four weeks ago our plants were just little babies with only their two “grow” leaves. Now look at them!

Last week we harvested our first cucumber and have harvested two more this size since.

On Sunday we harvested two French White zucchinis.

And on Monday we harvested two Sunburst squash.

So freaking neat! Now I’m having fun finding recipes on how to ingest this bounty! I’d like to try this zucchini cake recipe and these zucchini squares too. There’s a lot of fried zucchini recipes, but doesn’t that kind of defeat the point?

Hello lovelies! I have been on such a long break from posting that I thought I should do kind of a diary entry to catch you all up to where I am now.
I graduated from California State University Sacramento three weeks ago with a B.A. in Humanities. Cum laude, thank you very much ;). I have been with the same law/lobby/association management firm for 8 years in one capacity or another. I went part-time 4 years ago when I went back to school, and now I’m back to being a full-time worker bee. (Hopefully despite the shideous economy my promotion and associated raise will come through. *fingers crossed*) It doesn’t really feel that different from when I was in school. I thought I’d have SO much free time now, but I’m tired when I get home!
Aunt Susan is still fighting that bastard leukemia. She’s been in San Francisco for almost three months now. She’s about to get a second transplant because the gd leukemia came back after the first one. She’s going through it right now and I kind of feel bad for always asking for favors - but please pray for her. It’s really sad and messed up and I am mad as hell that this is happening to her. Here she is (with Uncle Rainer) attending my graduation party <3

On the crafting-front, I have been knitting my Sophisticated Waves (my own pattern) scarf for Great Aunt Bettie on my bus rides to and from work.
This week I’m going to do some screen printing for a Birthday present. If it turns out very well I’ll post about it. I am going to get cracking soon because I bought myself and was gifted some really fun crafty resources - Seams to Me: 24 New Reasons to Love Sewing by Anna Maria Horner; Vintage Baby Knits: More than 40 Heirloom Patterns from the 1920s to the 1950s by Kristen Rengren; and!!!! Amy Butler’s new Electric Quilt Company software CD: 22 unique & stylish projects: quilts, pillows, bags & more! EEEP! AND I got $130 in gift cards to my LYS!!!! Okay, recounting all that made me very excited.
I entered my original “Earthenware” purse into the California State Fair!!!! I hope it gets in!!! How exciting would that be? I’m am visualizing a “Best in Fair” ribbon hanging on my wall. Oh - I would just die!

I know that more than one of you have been waiting so patiently to see the final results of my knitted shrug that I made for my graduation party! I don’t have too many pictures of it, because I didn’t put it on until the sun was going down and it started to cool down. THANK you all so much for voting and urging me to knit the collar in teal. I love love love it.
That’s my friend since 3rd grade, Kristin. She flew out from Missouri!

Grad pinata! =)

And as an added bonus, here are some of my favorite pictures from my graduation party =)
Amy and me. She was my Maid of Honor and did a lot of work to make the party perfect. Including gifting me the professional photographer! Love you Amosita.

Heheh I love these napkins. Such a snapshot of my personality.

Party people. Amy made the Martha Stewart pompoms I told you about!

Eight years of lovin’.

This is my favorite picture. Graduating was a triumph and a relief for both of us.

I’ve been reading a lot of wedding blogs lately to get decoration ideas for my graduation party, and I wanted to share some of them for you. I am so busy with end of the semester projects that I probably won’t be able to make any of these, but I thought that you’d probably like to check them out.
Check out this list of “101 DIY Projects and Ideas” by Stylish Events. Here are two of my favorites. Click the pics to visit the tutorials:

And I circuitously discovered this Martha tutorial for really cool tissue paper pompoms that you could use for many different things. Fun!
