A Real Turn Off

Apr 21st

As you may know, four weeks have passed since Andy and I gave away our 2 TVs and DVD players. It was a drastic, spur of the moment decision, but one that we don’t regret in the least.  I thought that I would have so much more free time, but really, I haven’t! I have found that I’m just going much deeper into the pursuits that I already have in place. I have weeded garden a few times, played more frisbee with the dog, started a binder of recipes and travel information from magazines, done a more thorough job in my studies, spent more time with friends, baked my first ever loaf of bread, finished some art for a show that’s still a month away, organized my giant collection of craft paraphernalia, and on and on…

Today marks the start of the 2008 national turn off your TV week, April 21-27. What will you do with your extra time?

AWESOME! If only I could get up the dang stairs to my sewing room. I’ll have to give it a try another week. We are movie nuts in this house, 100Face might have a fit if I chucked the DVD player. YAY for the anti-commercial watching homes in the USA!

My oh my! I know I don’t have it in me to ditch the tiny TV we have shoved in the corner in the living room. I love my Netflix too much…. But I’m in total agreement with Renee and her shout out to all the commercial-free households!

Kids, you don’t need that cereal! In reality, it tastes gross and it doesn’t even come with magical cartoon friends that hold your spoon for you. :)

@Wendella - We still watch the occasional Netflix movie on the laptop - it’s actually kinda fun that way. If your computer has a dvd player you can still chuck your TV!
