Sew Dreamy
Fabric designer Amy Butler is simply amazing. I love her style. She has a great website showcasing her gorgeous fabrics and patterns - including free ones! Not surprisingly, her work space is fabulous.
I fell madly in love with Amy’s Lotus Brick Path Quilt (which is a free pattern!) and I really want to make it. I know, I know - I have grand ambitions for someone with such limited experience. But you know what, that’s how you learn - have no fear and be open to the process.
Here is the sample on the site
After I finished strolling through Amy’s site, I compared different vendors on the pricing of her fabric. I found a few that had the fabric at $8.95/yd (you need .5yd of each of 11 fabrics, and 4yd of the fabric for the back). One site had the best selection, plus an awesome tool that lets you grab each sample and put them together to make a color board. SO cool. The shop is called Quilt Home. They have a flat shipping rate of $5 and apparently it only takes around 2 days to receive your order.
More obsessing ensued as I sorted and paired fabrics. I put together two combinations that I really love. I used only earlier collections, except for 2 fabrics. The latest collections cost about twice as much as the earlier ones.
I think the second one is totally awesome, but the first one is much more in keeping with the rest of our house, so that is the one that I would make. The cost is around $90 to make this quilt.
In case you like these combos and would like to make yourself a quilt modeled after them, the first combination is made up of:
1. Amy Butler Belle AB10-Olive; 2. Amy Butler Midwest Modern AB33-Sage (I’d use #2 as the back); 3. Amy Butler Lotus AB18-Pink; 4. Aviary JD15-Dark Green; 5. Amy Butler Lotus AB19-Brown; 6. Amy Butler Belle AB07-Pine; 7. Amy Butler Nigella HDABS4-Forest (I’d use #7 as the back); 8. Amy Butler Belle AB09-Burgandy; 9. Amy Butler Nigella HDABS4-Lime; 10. Amy Butler Lotus AB19-Olive; 11. Flutterby 23010-15; 12. Amy Butler Belle AB07-Pink
And the second combination is made of:
1. Amy Butler Lotus AB17-Apricot; 2. Amy Butler Midwest Modern AB27-Linen; 3. Amy Butler Lotus AB18-Sand; 4. Amy Butler Midwest Modern AB33-Sage; 5. Amy Butler Lotus AB18-Lime; 6. Amy Butler Lotus AB18-Sky; 7. Aviary JD15-Almond (I’d use #7 as the back); 8. Amy Butler Lotus AB14- Gold; 9. Amy Butler Belle AB07-Blue; 10. Amy Butler Midwest Modern AB26-Mustard; 11. Amy Butler Midwest Modern AB32-Green; 12. Amy Butler Lotus AB13-Yellow

I love that quilt! Amy Butler’s stuff is just awesome!
I got some of her fabric from Paul for x-mas… I was so super excited! But as I am sure you are aware of, I have that fear of cutting beautiful fabric. I’m still repeating that quote you once emailed to me about how to get over that! Are you going to make that quilt!!! If so I cannot wait to see it!
I heard ya on the airwaves, how cute!
Thank you for these links! I’ve been looking for cool fabric for a wall thing and I found some cool sites but this one has awesome stuff at very good prices! Yay Stitchify!
