Paper Studio
In the fall of 2005, Aunt Susan, her best friend Joyce, and I took an evening screenprinting and lithography class together. The class was a total blast and it was such a treat to do it with loved ones. (I can’t wait to graduate so I can go back to community college and take some more fun art classes (in California it’s only $33/unit!!!)). By the way, just since I know you must be artsy if you’re reading this blog, here is my favorite piece that I created during that class.

Jump to Valentine’s Day this year… Aunt Susan invited over a bunch of her artistic friends to make cards that were donated to an organization that passed them on to wounded soldiers. It was a pure joy to give back, to be with such fabulous company, and to use up some of my left over paper from our class!

The point I am very circumspectly getting to is - screenprinting and cardmaking have introduced me to the pleasures of fine paper. I want to turn you on to this paper shop that I found, Paper Studio. Their website is great; easy to navigate and has plenty of eye candy for inspiration. They have a physical shop in Phoenix where you can also take classes. I love their community-centered mission, “engaging artists and all levels of learners in developing creative expression, building technical skills and finding inspiration through papermaking, alternative photography, printmaking and book arts”.
I’m a sucker for all things Japanese, and they have a huge selection of chiyogami paper.
They have loads of other fabu stuff, some of which include: adhesives, brushes, book cloth, book inserts, cardmaking kits, decorative label tins and stamps, embellishments, fine art paper, gable boxes, journals, origami/Japanese-paper variety packs, paper studio kits, jewelry trays, punchanella, ribbon, samples / paper swatches, scrapbook items, stamps and seals, stationery, and tools. Wheh! If any of that interests you, check them out.

That print you did is so awesome, nice work! Did you make more than one print or os that the only one in existence? You are so amazingly talented! I should move to CA classes here a $300+ per unit! Cheezits!
Paper Source is an awesome store, I found them through youtube while trying to learn bookbinding techniques. So for the your other readers.. THEY ALSO HAVE AWESOME VIDEOS THAT ARE SO EASY TO LEARN FROM!!! Go check em out guys!
