Roxy Lady
Something very fortuitous happened on Second Saturday. On our way back into town from Andy’s parents house, we stopped by a craft show that we had seen featured on local news, called Fibertastic!. There were some cool people selling some nice altered clothes, handspun yarn, baby gear; but one table really caught my eye: Roxycraft. Andy and I went over to ooh and ahh over her fun display (including a really cool kit!). Thankfully I was having an extrovert moment and introduced myself to Tamie, the creative lady behind the fabulous crocheted amigurmi patterns of Roxycraft. She was so friendly and welcoming that I asked her if I could contact her for a Stitchify feature. A few days later, she graciously hosted me at her home.
Tamie was such a fabulous hostess - she had snacks and iced tea ready when I arrived. We started gabbing right away, and we had so much fun that we chatted for over three hours. She is a recent transplant from LA, and is a member of the Sacramento Craft Mafia. She has been crocheting for close to 8 years, and started Roxycraft in 2003. She also knits and sings. She once performed in Romeo and Juliet at the Kennedy Center!
It was so interesting to learn about her as a person, and as a successful crafty artist (she was the #2 seller on Etsy before she decided to go solo on her own site). You can shop her super cute patterns for sale here. She also has some cute free ones too - including a few that were bought by Lion Brand for their Wool Ease line - very cool!
Tamie has a book coming out on August 5th. It’s called Tiny Yarn Animals, and is available for preorder now at Amazon. I’m sure it going to be fab! Also check out her blog, it’s great!
Here I am in front of a few of her adorable characters. There is a picture of me taking this picture of meĀ on Tamie’s flickr. It represents her day 73 of her 365 set (one photo a day in 2008). Ha! Very cool, Tamie ;) You can also check out her other crafty/happy photos here.

Thank you so much Tamie for hosting me and it was so great to meet you. I’m looking forward to continuing our new-found friendship =)

Hey, that’s me! It’s was so fun hanging out! Hope we can do it again someday! :)
