Gettin’ Knitty with It
I have been saving this post because I wanted to be able to say, “The Spring issue of Knitty was just released today!” They usually post a new issue on the 1st day of the last month of a quarter. Today is the 3rd of March, so hopefully by the time you read this, there will be a Spring 2008 Knitty live. If not, keep checking - it will be up very soon.
Knitty.com is an online, quarterly “magazine”. It has an archive of lovely *free!* knitting patterns and a plethora (yes I have seen The Three Amigos) of scholarly articles about a variety of topics. This one comes to mind - you won’t believe how in depth the author goes about the different kinds of fibers. And there are many more where that came from. Click here to search for patterns and/or articles in the archives.
I also have a Knitty pattern in mind to show you, but first I want to take some decent pictures of my FO. Don’t know what FO means? Good for you. It’s weird craft-blog speak for finished object. (The opposite of which is WIP - work in progress). If you would like to know more dorky acronyms, see Stitch n’ Bitch, (Stoller, 116). That really is a good book, by the way. I taught myself to knit using it.
Here are some nice patterns from Knitty that I do not have as WIPs or FOs. They’re just here to show you a few of the hundreds of great patterns on Knitty. I promise I’ll post about my mysterious Knitty FO later this week. Please click the pictures if you would like to go to the patterns’ site.
