Madame Bogg

Feb 26th

Meet Marisa, aka Madame Bogg; creator of fantastical creatures and beautiful illustrations. Her gorgeous, hand-sewn plush make it hard to believe that she only started crafting two years ago. She is a professional illustrator, and her plush are 3D manifestations of her 2D illustrations. Inspiration usually hits her as she tries to fall asleep. Dreamland often has to wait as she obsesses over the construction and pose of her next plush. Marisa’s favorite part of creating her innovative plush is the engineering of an attractive, free-standing piece; which she attributes to her past study of architecture. - This is one of the things I really love about her plush - they’re so sculptural! And she mixes scraps of fabric, which gives her plush such character.

Marisa’s inspiration: Japanese animation and colorful computer games. She jokes that growing up, her best friends were pixelated ;)

Marisa’s turn offs: formulaic music and flat plush

Marisa’s loves: vegetarian food, wine, music, and her rock star boyfriend.

She makes me very happy. Look at her creations - they exude joy!
